Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information The Verified Picks (theverifiedpicks.com) collects when you visit, how it's used and the choices you have. The short version: we don't ask you to create an account, we don't sell personal information, and the data we see is limited to anonymous site analytics and anything you choose to send us.

Information we collect

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which product links they click. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), your device and browser type, and the site that referred you. We see this information in aggregate; it doesn't identify you by name.
• Link clicks. When you click a link to Amazon, we record that click (the link, the product's ASIN and the link text) as an analytics event so we know which guides are useful.
• Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive what you enter: your name, email address and message. We use it only to read and reply to your message.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes standard request information such as IP addresses and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Amazon and other third parties

As an Amazon Associate, The Verified Picks earns from qualifying purchases. When you follow a link to Amazon, Amazon may set or read cookies so it can attribute any qualifying purchase to this site. Once you're on Amazon's site, Amazon's own privacy notice applies. Amazon and other third parties may serve content, collect information directly from visitors, and place or recognize cookies on visitors' browsers. Product prices shown on our pages come from Amazon's product data service when the site is built; showing them doesn't send any information about you to Amazon.

The third parties involved are:

• Google (Google Analytics); see also how Google uses information from sites that use its services
• Amazon (affiliate links and product data)
• Netlify (hosting and the contact form)

How we use information

We use it to run and improve the site: to see which guides are read and useful, to fix problems, and to reply to messages. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it to build advertising profiles.

Your choices

• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
• You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. To make a request, contact us. Because we don't run accounts, the only personal information we hold directly is what you've sent through the contact form.

Data retention

Google Analytics data is kept for Google Analytics' configured retention period (14 months by default) and then deleted. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond.

Children

This site is meant for adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
